Four years ago, I met Alice through climbing.
I had just moved to Barcelona and knew that Catalonia has beautiful places for climbing. As a climber from Liguria, living just 40 minutes from Finale Ligure, I was eager to connect with people to share this sport with. That's how, thanks to our shared passion for climbing, my boyfriend and I went to a climbing gym, where we met Alice and many of our closest local friends who we now call family.
Climbing is a sport of sharing. One person climbs while the other belays, creating a deep bond between people. You build trust in others and learn to face your fears and mental limits. You exchange tips on how to develop strength and improve your technique or motivation.
Climbing partners become life partners because you share many trips and simple moments together in nature. There are countless moments of sharing and cooperation, like finding the crag, walking through breathtaking forests during the “approaches” to the walls you want to climb.
During these years of friendship with Alice, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know a person who, like me, as a strong wild side and loves being in nature.
She grew up around horses, knowing and working with these animals for over 20 years, connecting with them deeply and respecting them as living beings with their own emotions.
Over the years, Alice has always been drawn to the incredible benefits of medicinal plants and essential oils, learning to use nature to make her own personal wellness and home products while respecting the well-being of our planet. And let me tell you: I have never tried skincare products as good and fragrant yet 100% natural as Alice’s homemade creams.
When we met, I was already teaching yoga, and Alice had been practicing since the beginning of the pandemic. She told me how Yoga helped her release the tensions that accumulated and connect with her more spiritual and deeper side, which she normally sought in nature and with horses.
Today, without Alice, we wouldn't be where we are with Namastribe... Her motivation and methodical approach, the same she uses to climb a rock wall, help us stay centered in all those back-office tasks that give our community the tools to grow and better connect with as many people as possible.
Moving from the mountains to the city for work, her bond with yoga has been a great guide in connecting with her more spiritual and deeper side.
If I had to describe Alice with an element of nature, I would describe her as earth and rock: solid and strong, but also oriented towards the highest peaks, which connect her to her more spiritual side. She has chosen the horse as her spirit animal, which perfectly encapsulates all the meanings of Alice’s uniqueness and her place in the world.
The spirituality of the horse is linked to the symbolism of strength, freedom, and nobility in various cultures. This connection with nature and the deep relationship between humans and horses fosters personal growth and emotional healing. Horses are present in myths and folklore as sacred beings and spiritual mediators, inspiring meditation and mindfulness.
